We interrupt the flow of normal post-con activities to jump into the middle of the con and then home
again. On Friday night of Mo*Con, Mark Rainey took Alethea Kontis, Lauren David and me on a “geocache” expedition. I had never heard of this and it sounded like treasure hunting, and well, you know I have that thing for pirates… It was a GREAT experience! Full of giggles and squeals and a childlike excitement that made the three of us girls look like we’d time-traveled back to 5th grade.
And something like that should be shared…
So I told my kids. And we just returned from their very first Geo-Hunt. We went to two different locations.
One was nothing more than finding the right spot and then emailing the answers to questions asked on the site to prove that we had found it. The other had a cache and their eyes lit up and they started talking about stealing their father’s GPS. The tiny little tube, about the size of a film canister, had the signature log, a penny from Denmark, a small necklace charm and a plastic tag from the crew that hid the cache.
However, as witnessed here, geocaching may not always sunshine and smiles. Some times, there are graveyards and swamps and cops =))
note: The discerning reader will notice that I didn’t say some writer, a princess, & mo’s other wife… nope, the days of code are over and with good reason. However, that explanation isn’t for today–I think that’s Mo*Con inspired post #2… so watch for it!

I know what the geo-hunt is…but what is Mo*Con? Must be one of those writers gatherings, right? :)

Glad you made it home safe, Kelli. Last weekend was a real blast. :)
And for all the picking on you, no bruises =)
I thought Geo’s were small automobiles briefly made by GM. WTH?
=))
Nice to meet you, Kelli. You put up a good fight, but my handshake-fu is stronger. BWA-HA-HA!
Hehehe, nice to meet you as well–but that handshake war? you wait… I’m going to do special workouts for my forearms and hands and beat you next time!! [and look like Popeye!]
