If you really must know… a bagel.

You know, I’ve noticed a lot of people put mini twitter-style updates at the bottom of their blogs.  What they’re reading, what’s they’re listening to, what they had for breakfast, etc.  And as much as I’ve thought about following suit, and may have on occasion just to pretend to be one of the “cool kids,” it’s just not me.  You know why?  Two main reasons.

For years I reviewed and everyone knew what I was reading.  Now I get to read what I want, when I want, and if I really want, I can close the book and walk away if I don’t like it.  I like that, it’s a newfound power!!  So yeah, I’m still reading, but I’m not reporting back to the world.

Point two, this is not my car.  I don’t listen to music while writing, and rarely surf with music playing. I really only listen to music in the car, and then it’s generally mixed CDs that I’ve made.  Since it’s not necessarily “new” music or “new” musicians, I just don’t see the point of getting out of the car and letting you know whether I’m in an 80s Hair Band Ballad mood or in my Angry Chick Music funk.  Really.

Apparently, those are the two most seen twittery signatures and since those just aren’t working for me, I’m not doing it.  You can’t make me.  So no, you don’t need to know what I’m reading [Though I am enjoying it], what I listened to on the way to the grocery story [Why do the good always die young?], or what I had for breakfast…

Hehehe! I got the idea from dooce.com. Besides, Brian Keene does it so it must be cool. ;-)
